How can the gospel advance in difficult places like Colombia, where many people live in remote areas and face danger from armed drug traffickers? How can the church grow in a context where many believers face persecution for their faith and where training for rural pastors is scarce?
These were questions on the heart of Darli Toncel, a man who grew up in Colombia and would later found a ministry called Casa Radio with the goal of reaching his own people for Christ.
Darli received his radio training from missionaries with HCJB in Quito, Ecuador, the mission organization where SonSet Solutions has its roots. From there, he served at Inspiracom, a Texas-based ministry which broadcasts the gospel into Mexico using a network of border stations. God used these years of Darli’s life to give him the skills and vision he would need to return to Colombia and start Casa Radio, a ministry committed to providing biblical and technical training to rural pastors and others in the community.
A joint team from SonSet Solutions and Inspiracom recently traveled to Colombia to help Darli set up the recording studio for Casa Radio, the first stage in his vision for a Christian radio station. With the installation of this studio, Casa Radio will be able to record biblical instruction from pastors for broadcast on local stations. The studio will also create a place for Darli to train up others in radio so that high-quality gospel content can be made available to those in the community in need of salvation.
We at SonSet Solutions desire to empower native people like Darli to reach their own communities for Christ. Through his training with HCJB and Inspiracom, Darli received the tools he needed to return and train his own people both in the knowledge of God’s Word as well as in technology that can further the spread of it. Through this replicative training model, the gospel is going forth by the power of God through native people.
